Role Overview
The Senior Program Manager will be deployed in support of a critical customer Transfer of Work project. This includes overseeing operational performance, quality, and risk management during transitions. The role will act as the main point of contact between suppliers, internal teams (procurement, quality, engineering, supply chain, programs), and customer stakeholders. The goal is to ensure smooth transfers while reducing production risks.
Support will primarily be in Hamburg, Germany, with travel required throughout Germany and occasional trips other European countries.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership, Planning and Supplier Risk Management
- Oversee supplier transitions and ramp-down programs. Ensure they meet customer strategic, operational, and quality goals.
- Develop and maintain detailed transfer project plans. These plans include timelines, milestones, dependencies, and risk registers.
- Monitor supplier performance during ramp-down to maintain supply continuity.
- Conduct audits, readiness checks, and capacity assessments before the transfer.
- Identify, assess, and address risks to ensure business continuity throughout the transitions.
Stakeholder and Supplier Engagement
- Serve as the main contact for suppliers during transfer projects. Manage communication and expectations.
- Facilitate collaboration between Safran teams, including procurement, quality, engineering, programs, and supply chain, to ensure coordinated execution.
- Provide regular program updates, dashboards, and performance reports to leadership.
- Lead problem-solving and recovery plans in case of supplier performance issues.
- Ensure proper escalation and coordination with the receiving site or counterpart during critical situations.
Required Skills & Experience
- 10+ years in program management in aerospace or complex manufacturing.
- Degree in Engineering, Supply Chain, Quality, or a related field preferred.
- Strong skills in supplier management, quality (AS9100), and supply chain.
- Proven success in managing ramp-downs, work transfers, or industrial changes.
- Skilled in risk management, audits, capacity and load analysis, and readiness planning.
- Excellent at managing stakeholders and communicating across functions and locations.
- Proficient in project management tools and methods for continuous improvement (8D, 5S, FMEA).
- Fluent in English, with German being highly desirable
- Willing to travel regularly within Germany and occasionally to France or Italy.
