Overview
- Develops and implements configuration management systems, processes and procedures designed to provide technical direction and administrative control over the documentation and data management throughout the project lifecycle.
- Ensures the identification and traceability of product configurations, physical and functional, through all phases of each product’s life cycle.
- Provides oversight on the change management system to assure the capture of any modifications to product requirements & designs, and that all changes are properly documented and the status is topical.
- Serves as the company facilitator and trainer in the implementation of new systems/processes and enabling tools for configuration control/change management, configuration status accounting, and configuration audits.
- Collaborates with QA regarding compliance management to ensure Spirit meet International Organization for Standardization (ISO), regulatory and customer requirements for configuration management.
Responsibilities
- Facilitates the programme to perform configuration management planning and ensure that the configuration management plan is topical to current working practices, contractual and regulatory requirements.
- Establishes and monitors configuration management metrics to support product quality, integrity and quality assurance systems.
- Promote awareness of customer and regulatory requirements for configuration management within projects and facilitate adherence to these utilising appropriate measures and remedial actions to encourage the correct behaviours.
- Define review and continuously improve Configuration Management (CM) processes and procedures. Stay current on emerging technologies and trends in CM. to implement enhanced and innovative processes.
- Develops the documentation/data management toolsets and processes for the approval and control of product data.
- Serves as principal controller of the program design change process including base-lining documentation and data. Management of engineering change orders and other forms of modifications to product requirements or designs.
- Ensure the generation of the proper configuration status accounting records, archiving and version control for product and documentation releases and traceability.
Defines requirements for the coordination, execution and documentation of internal, supplier and customer configuration audits.
Qualifications
- 2 years work experience in applying discipline knowledge
- A basic competence and understanding in the use of the company toolsets for PDM, ERP & design.
- A broad knowledge of the business processes and the dependencies and interactions required to ensure that the correct engineering definition is specified, assembled and verified.
- Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office suite of applications and software packages.
- Knowledge and understanding of Company Procedures and standards relating to engineering, design, health, safety and environment.
- The ability to assess configuration changes for its overall impact and make judgements on the likely impacts on design, cost, manufacturing, lead times etc.
- Has an in depth knowledge of the companies procedures especially as they relate to change control, data control and communication of data to suppliers and customers, part identification and traceability, status accounting and auditing.
- Has an in depth knowledge of industry requirements AS9100, ISO1007 and customer requirements as related to configuration management.
