Job Title: Certified Weld Inspector
Location: Waterboro, ME
Job Type: Full Time
Duration: 9 Month contract with potential extension
Hours/Week: Monday - Friday 40/hrs week (possible overtime)
Rate: $35.00/hr
We are seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to support our prototype projects and other inspection tasks over a 9-month contract. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the quality and integrity of welds, performing inspections, and supporting the delivery of high-quality products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform welding inspections on prototype parts, subassemblies, and assemblies.
- Conduct visual and dimensional inspections to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Develop and implement inspection plans and checklists.
- Perform Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and 8D analysis on welding process failures.
- Manage conforming and non-conforming welds and materials.
- Audit compliance with welding and inspection plans.
- Support inspection efforts and testing as required.
- Support day-to-day inspection requirements as needed to support manufacturing deliverables
- Provide training and support to welding and inspection staff as needed.
Qualifications:
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification from the American Welding Society (AWS). (Need copy of valid certificate)
- Proven experience as a Welder Inspector or similar role.
- Minimum of 5 years experience of welding processes, standards, and inspection techniques.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the manufacturing or automotive industry.
- Familiarity with FAI processes and documentation.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, and move around manufacturing and inspection areas for extended periods.
- Capability to lift and handle objects up to [Insert Weight] pounds as needed during inspections.
- Fine motor skills for handling precision measuring tools and delicate components.
- Adequate vision (with or without corrective lenses) to read detailed engineering drawings and perform close inspections.
- Ability to work in manufacturing environments, including exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations.
